Born and raised in Anchorage, Nathene Akins brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and a deep commitment to helping clients feel supported and understood. What began as a role as a bank teller in 1997 quickly grew into a fulfilling career across a variety of operational and client service positions, including financial services representative, teller supervisor, and executive assistant. Now, as an Operations Assistant in Cutler’s Alaska office, Nathene draws on her extensive background to help clients and advisors navigate financial systems with clarity and care.
Before entering finance, Nathene began her professional journey as a licensed barber—a reflection of her natural ability to connect with people. Over the years, she discovered that her true strengths lie in organizing processes and solving problems, especially for those who may feel overwhelmed by financial paperwork and procedures. She has a particular passion for working with elderly clients, listening to their stories and honoring their perspectives.
Outside the office, Nathene is a creative spirit. She paints custom action figures, supports her husband’s improv group with behind-the-scenes logistics, and enjoys nothing more than a great cup of coffee. She’s also a proud mother of four and grandmother—roles she cherishes deeply. If given the opportunity to share a meal with anyone, she’d choose Jesus, whose life and teachings have had a lasting impact on her own.
Nathene believes in speaking up when things feel heavy and values the reminder that she is enough—just as she is. Completing a mental health course helped solidify this belief and stands as one of her proudest accomplishments. Her favorite personal mantra is simple and powerful: "You don’t need anyone’s permission to be yourself."
At Cutler, Nathene is known for her patience, attention to detail, and ability to bring calm to even the most complex situations. She ensures every client interaction is met with kindness and confidence, helping them move forward with ease.
