Happy Election Day! Today, we head to the polls to pick a new President and Congress. Tomorrow, as the results of the election begin to become clear, nearly half of Americans will inevitably be disappointed. If you wake up on November 6th, and your candidate didn’t win, that doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your potential portfolio gains for political biases. Yes, your politics matter and the outcome of elections matter. But, as the nearby chart suggests, stocks have performed well in nearly every political environment. Stay the course and keep a long-term view. U.S. companies are the most resilient in the world, and we believe you will be well served by maintaining your portfolio allocation.
At Cutler, we believe that equities are your best vehicle for long-term returns. No matter who is President. But if you are still feeling uneasy, give us a call. Let’s talk about your portfolio and how you are positioned. We are focused on your goals and want to make sure your portfolio and financial plan are positioned accordingly- regardless of what is happening in Washington D.C.
