A Resource We Hope You Won't Need Anytime Soon, Loss of a Loved One - Timely Topic

July 03, 2026

There are some financial topics that are easy to put off because we hope we'll never need them. Losing a spouse or loved one is one of those situations.

While there is usually plenty of support immediately after a loss, there is often little guidance once the funeral is over. Many survivors are left feeling overwhelmed by the financial and legal steps they must take at a time when they are grieving and least prepared to take them.

To help, we've created a resource to walk you through the financial tasks that typically arise after the loss of a spouse or family member. It makes these steps less overwhelming by including what should be addressed right away, what can wait, and where common mistakes can be avoided. It also highlights opportunities that are often overlooked, such as survivor benefits, beneficiary updates, tax considerations, and estate planning issues.

Even if this information doesn't apply to you today, we encourage you to take a few minutes to review it and keep it somewhere you can easily find in the future. You may also find it helpful to share with aging parents, family members, or friends who may someday face these circumstances.

As always, if you or someone you care about experiences the loss of a loved one, please don't hesitate to contact us before making major financial decisions. One of the most valuable things we can do during a difficult time is help provide clarity, organize the next steps, and coordinate with your CPA and estate attorney when needed.

We hope this resource provides peace of mind, even if it simply sits in your files for years to come.
